Case Studies

Case Studies

Explore primary sources from the Library of Congress through 12 case studies that cover topics ranging from the American Revolution to the Muckrakers to Women’s Suffrage. Interactive tools will help you with your investigations: For example, try “The Puzzler” to piece together political cartoons from the Vietnam War or the “Social Media Editor” to highlight important events in Native American history. Journalism in Action's inquiry-based approach on the "Annotator" and "Magnifier" interactives allows for fun ways to support learning goals and historical thinking skills.

Each case study contains several investigations that may act as stand-alone lessons and take 15 minutes to complete. Full case studies may take a whole class period to complete. Student responses may be saved, downloaded and shared.
